This is a set of Newspaper Clippings primarily regarding the Lyceum Theatre in Ithaca, New York. Many of these seem to be from 1909/1910, but a few date back to the 1890s and one is from 1885-though this later is a lengthy description of a performance of Verdi's 'Aida' in Chicago. Most of the others seem to focus on Ithaca and the goings on of the Lyceum-from business leases, new management and fire issues, to a scathing criticism of 'The Girl of Rector,' and the performance of David Warfield-one gets a sense of the controversy surrounding this theater from the following clippings: "the practice of throwing coins and bits of metal on the Lyceum Stage is reprehensible," and ''too large a proportion of the students who attend...attractions at the Lyceum appear to be lacking in good breeding as if they had been reared in the slums..." Ah those days of Yore! The clippings have moderate overall wear-some creasing, a few small and light smudges/stains.
