Item Description: Up for auction is one (1) VERY RARE souvenir lapel / apparel pin from the television series "Early Edition" that starred Kyle Chandler, Shanesia Davis-Williams, Fisher Stevens, Kristy Swanson, Billie Worley and Myles Jeffrey. Pictured on the front of the pin are Kyle Chandler and Panther as "Cat." The top of the pin reads "Saturdays at 7 p.m. on CBS" and the bottom reads "Early Edition." The color photo shows Kyle Chandler reading one of the special newspapers with Panther sitting at the window. Construction: The pin has a plastic cover over the color photograph. The plastic encircles the edge and is sealed against the stainless steel back of the pin. It has a straight-pin device to attach it to clothing. Condition: The pin is in good/very good condition. Some very slight dimpling and scrapes to the plastic cover that are only visible on close inspection and otherwise do not mar the image (see photo). Slight scrapes to the back from storage and age. Pin closes and opens with no problem and no slippage. Origin: This pin was one of many distributed during the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chicago, Illinois by the original cast of "Early Edition" in March 1997 (or possibly 1998). I was at the parade in downtown Chicago and retrieved this after it was thrown by Shanesia Davis-Williams; the cast was riding on a float together and throwing pins to the crowd. About the show: "Early Edition" dealt with the life of Gary Hobson (Kyle Chandler), a Chicago man (initially a stockbroker, later the owner of McGinty's Bar) who mysteriously received newspapers (specifically, the Chicago Sun-Times) a day ahead of time, effectively giving him knowledge of the potential future. His newspaper apparently gets delivered by an orange tabby cat, no matter where he goes every morning, except on some special occasions. He would then try to prevent tragedies described in "tomorrow's" Sun-Times from occurring, whereby story text and headlines in the newspaper change to reflect the outcome of his actions. The show aired on CBS from September 1996-May 2000 and was shot almost exclusively in Chicago, with the utilization of some studios in Cicero, Illinois. Panther the cat, incidentally, was one of three used on the series--Panther, Pella and Carl. Panther was an orange tabby rescued from an animal shelter and was very sedentary, thus doing most of the posing (sit, stay) and close-up shots in the series; he is also the cat in the main title film footage. Shipping: Buyer pays all shipping costs; free pick-up in the Los Angeles area. Note that I ship cheapest possible and am not responsible for untracked, uninsured items that may become lost or damaged in the mail, so be sure to inform me BEFORE PAYING of any changes or additions to your order--insurance, delivery confirmation, out-of-country address, etc.
