Title of Work: Sudden Death Genre: Drama/Sports Theme Written : 2007/2008
Synopsis: A young man sees his life long dream slipping away, until a magical opportunity allows him to reach his goal that everyone else thought had passed him by. This amazingly gifted athlete knows only to follow his heart regardless of the people and situations around him. In a balance of triumph and tragedy this story tells of the familiar struggle for young people as they face the choices between what they want in their hearts and what others tell them to do.
The commercial potential is huge due to a good part of the story being set in a Professional Football League. The treatment is not derogatory to football,any professional league or any team used in the portrayal. As the synopsis states it's a study in how humans struggle with emotions and a reflection on life that will tug on everyone's heart. There is a love interest and conflict that competes with the lead characters goal to simply play the sport he loves and to fulfill his destiny. The lead character is a very gifted athlete with record breaking ability. This creates the football action scenes and allows the audience to experience his success and an unbelievable season. The script is explosive for an A list actor or as a vehicle for a rising star looking for instant recognition. This is a dream script for a Director who loves sports (football) action, wowing the audience and providing dramatic emotional swings. Production with a professional football league as a partner would provide very positive fan appeal, instant credibility and provide the league with a good image across a broad audience.
