Charles Hoyt was a very popular composer and lyricist. He wrote popular musical comedies that were performed by professionals and light opera companies everywhere. This is a poster for one of his hits called “ A Stranger in New York”. It shows an elderly “gentleman” cavorting with two young damsels, both of whom have their skirts hiked in a provocative manner. Underneath is the caption: “A woman is always as old as she looks, but a man is as old as he feels.”
