Charles Hoyt was a very popular composer and lyricist. He wrote popular musical comedies that were performed by professionals and light opera companies everywhere. This is a poster for one of his hits called “ A Stranger in New York”. It shows an elderly “gentleman” cavorting with two young damsels, both of whom have their skirts hiked in a provocative manner. Underneath is the caption: “A woman is always as old as she looks, but a man is as old as he feels.” CREATED/PUBLISHED: Cincinnati ; New York : Strobridge Lithograph Co., c1897. This print is on a high-quality 100# glossy text paper. The poster measures 10 1/4” (w) x 16” (h). It has a 3/8 ” border to allow for framing.
