A French beatnik soap opera, a drama-ballet in two acts: wish I could transport back in time to see Francoise Sagan's "Le Rendez-Vous Manque," or "The Broken Date." As it is, bid on this lot and you could own the 16-page program for this time-capsule of an era. I can't quite pin down the date, but I think it is from 1958 - 1960. Time Magazine has a very funny review of this theatrical presentation online, from 1958, entitled "Sexe is a Four-Letter Word." The writer, Sagan, is best known as the author of "Bonjour, Tristesse." The film director Roger Vadim is listed as the director. This is a "Le Ballet-Theatre Francais" production, with leads Toni Lander, Vladimir Skouratoff and Noelle Adam. From the pictures, I can only infer that this is the kind of jazzy dancing seen done by Cyd Cyrisse onscreen or skewered by the movie "Funny Face." I believe this to be a theatre, and not a movie program (the pictures make it look very theatrical), but I could be wrong. No venue is ever mentioned, and I can't find any reference to Vadim being a stage director. This program is in excellent condition. I love the saturated purple color and cover drawing by Bernard Buffet. Lots of photos inside showing rehearsals. The shipping and handling fee is $1.00. I accept PayPal, money orders and checks. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding.
